# Questions we get asked

> Affiliation, scope, the flat fee, warranty, parts, hours and access — answered plainly.

## Are you a Sub-Zero factory service center?

No. Riverbend Refrigeration is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Sub-Zero or its parent company, Sub-Zero Group, Inc. We hold no manufacturer service appointment and we do not claim one.

The manufacturer publishes its own service locator. If a manufacturer appointment matters to you — for a sealed-system claim inside the original warranty, for example — check the locator and use it. We will tell you the same thing on the phone.

## What do you actually work on?

Sub-Zero refrigeration: built-in refrigerators, integrated columns, undercounter cabinets, wine storage and ice machines. That is the whole list.

We do not take on other brands, and we do not take on cooking, laundry or dishwashing appliances of any make. One product line is the reason we are useful on it.

## What does the first visit cost?

$129, flat. Flat diagnostic fee, credited in full toward the repair if you approve the work.

Written estimate before any part is ordered or any labor is billed. Nothing is billed beyond the diagnostic until you have said yes to a number you have read.

## What is covered after the repair?

90 days on our labor and 365 days on the parts we supply, from the date the work is completed.

Genuine OEM parts sourced through the manufacturer supply chain.

## Do you use genuine parts?

Yes. We source OEM parts through the manufacturer supply chain. An aftermarket control board on refrigeration of this class is a false economy and we do not fit them.

If a part is on back-order we tell you the date we were given, and we tell you again when it moves. A guess with a confident tone is not a delivery date.

## Do you run an emergency line?

No. We work monday to friday 8:00am – 6:00pm and saturday 9:00am – 4:00pm. Closed Sunday. Scheduled appointments only — we do not run an after-hours line.

If a cabinet is losing temperature overnight, move the contents to another cabinet or a cooler and call when we open. Nothing we could do at 2am changes the repair.

## It failed after a storm. Is that a separate problem?

Usually not a separate one — a later one. This county runs roughly 68 thunderstorm days a year, and the damage that matters is cumulative rather than dramatic: repeated sags and momentary interruptions on a machine that has been energised continuously for a decade. The storm anyone remembers is generally the last event, not the only one.

That is why we prove the supply before we quote a board. Voltage under load, the receptacle, the ground reference and every temperature sensor are all measurable, and a board replaced while a weak circuit stays in place fails again.

## Does the cabinet have to come out of the opening?

Most of the time, no. A built-in is serviced in place: the grille comes off for the condenser deck, interior panels come off for the evaporator, and the controls are reachable from the front. Pulling the cabinet is the exception.

When it is unavoidable, it is a planned job rather than an improvised one — protected flooring, two people, and a route walked in advance, because a hallway or a door casing decides whether the cabinet can leave the room at all. We would rather find that out before the day than with the machine already halfway out.

## Where is your shop?

There is no shop counter. This is a mobile field-service operation working across Jacksonville and roughly 35 miles around it, and we do not publish a street address for premises that do not exist.

Built-in refrigeration is repaired in the opening it was installed in. Pulling a cabinet to a workshop is the last resort, not the first move.

## Will you tell me when not to repair it?

Yes, and it happens. A compressor failure on an older cabinet, or a sealed-system leak in the foam where the tubing cannot be reached, can cost more than the cabinet is worth.

We would rather charge one diagnostic and tell you to spend the money elsewhere than sell a repair that buys you eight months.

## What should I have ready before the visit?

The model and serial from the plate inside the cabinet if you can reach it, a plain description of what changed and when, and clear access to the front of the unit.

On a built-in, the condenser deck is behind the upper grille. If a rug, a stool or a stack of trays is in front of the cabinet, moving it before we arrive buys back ten minutes of the visit.
